After an announcement by Mayor Bill de Blasio, it has now been confirmed that New York City has rolled out major changes to legislation that governs helicopter providers that operate flights around Manhattan. In response to what they claim are decades of noise complaints from residents, the City has issued a decree that the popular helicopter tours will no longer be permitted to fly around Staten or Governors Island.

Furthermore, from April 1, helicopter tour providers will be banned from running flights across Manhattan on Sundays.

People need to book their helicopter tour fast if they don’t want to miss out on the spectacular views of the beautiful Manhattan skyline. Soon the 59,000 flights that depart from Pier 6 near the Battery will be reduced by 50% meaning not only will passengers miss out on seeing Staten and Governors Island, but they won’t be able to book tickets for a Sunday and availability for flights Monday through Saturday will be limited.
