Deadline Looms for Helicopter Tours Around Staten Island

After an announcement by Mayor Bill de Blasio, it has now been confirmed that New York City has rolled out major changes to legislation that governs helicopter providers that operate flights around Manhattan. In response to what they claim are decades of noise complaints from residents, the City has issued a decree that the popular helicopter tours will no longer be permitted to fly around Staten or Governors Island.

For those who have long thought about taking a helicopter ride around Staten or Governors Island on a leisurely Sunday afternoon, then they better move quickly before the tours cease to exist.

These trips are simply amazing. Take in the Brooklyn waterfront, the Statue of Liberty and the Hudson River, and at every turn you will see New York in a whole new way. It doesn't matter if you have lived in New York for 20 years, or if you are just passing through, you have to put a Manhattan helicopter tour on you bucket list

People need to book their helicopter tour fast if they don’t want to miss out on the spectacular views of the beautiful Manhattan skyline.  Soon the 59,000 flights that depart from Pier 6 near the Battery will be reduced by 50% meaning not only will passengers miss out on seeing Staten and Governors Island, but they won’t be able to book tickets for a Sunday and availability for flights Monday through Saturday will be limited.

"These trips are simply amazing.  Take in the Brooklyn waterfront, the Statue of Liberty and the Hudson River, and at every turn you will see New York in a whole new way.  It doesn’t matter if you have lived in New York for 20 years, or if you are just passing through, you have to put a Manhattan helicopter tour on you bucket list,” commented Matthew Day of Helicopter New York City.

He went on say, “But you will need to move fast. They changes have been legislated and will come into effect on April 1”.  Mark this date in your diary because at the stroke of midnight on April 1, you will no longer be able to get an up close and birds eye view of some of the City’s finest landmarks. People are strongly encouraged to visit our website to book their flight before it is too late!”
